lessons from some toys

Toy Story quickly became a nation wide classic. I will admit that I was in tears in every movie! Especially the third one, man that was ridiculous. But there is one part in the first movie that literally has impacted my life (I know it sounds silly, but hear me out).

There is a scene towards the end, when Buzz and Woody have been captured and taken to the evil neighbor kid's house, Sid. Buzz has been strapped to a rocket and Woody is trapped under a crate.  This is a major turning point in Buzz's toy life. He has come to the realization that the awesome space ranger that he had believed he was, was a lie. He was nothing more than a toy. With this realization he felt life was meaningless. He was ready to be destroyed by the rocket on his back because being a toy was such an insignificant role to have.
Like I said, Woody is trapped under this crate and desperately asks Buzz to help him. I tried to find a Youtube video with this part of the movie in it but was unsuccessful, but I want you to get this dialogue, so here it is:

Woody: Buzz, I can't do this without you. I need your help.
Buzz: I can't help you. I can't help anyone.
Woody: Sure you can, Buzz. You can get me out of here and then I'll get that rocket off you, and then we will make a break for Andy's house!
Buzz: Andy's house, Sid's house, what's the difference?
Woody: Oh Buzz, you've had a big fall, you must not be thinking clearly.
Buzz: No Woody, for the first time I am thinking clearly. You were right all along. I'm not a space ranger. I'm just a toy, a stupid little insignificant toy.
Woody: Whoa, being a toy is a lot better than being a space ranger.
Buzz: Yea right.
Woody: No, it is. Look, over in that house is a kid who thinks you are the greatest, and it's not because you're a space ranger, it's because you're a toy, you are his toy.
Buzz: Why would Andy want me?
Woody: Why would Andy want you? Look at you! You're a Buzz Lightyear. Any other toy would give up his moving parts just to be you. You've got wings. You glow in the dark. You talk. Your helmet does that whoosh thing. You are a cool toy. As a matter of fact, you're too cool. I mean what's the chance a toy like me has against a Buzz Lightyear action figure. All I can do is (pulls string) "there's a snake in my boot." Why would Andy ever want to play with me? I'm the one who should be strapped to that rocket, not you.

And then comes my favorite part. Buzz listens to what Woody is saying and he realizes,
I am wanted
Someone wants me
Someone values me more than I value myself
I have a use
I have a purpose
Buzz looks under his boot and sees the name "Andy" written in permanent marker and realizes he belongs to someone. With that understanding and a renewed purpose he rushes to Woody's rescue.
1 Peter 5:9
"For we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God..."
It is as if God has written his name on us, saying this is my possession. This is my child. I see value in them. I have a purpose for them. I want them. I truly believe if we would all come to this realization as Buzz did we would live differently. We would not question our value or our purpose. We would know that we cannot be compared to anyone else, because we are unlike any other, a one of a kind masterpiece.

I hope this scene from Toy Story impacts you as much as it has impacted me. Now you will have to go watch it! It is scene 23 if you want to go straight to it ;)

  9. The base dial replica watches designs of the new TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph 44mm Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic models are timeless reinterpretations replica watches uk of the core Carrera layout, with large applied rectangular indices, faceted baton hands with fake rolex a central contrast stripe in black, and snailed chronograph subdials sitting slightly below the main dial level. The sunburst finishes help to replica rolex inject life into these traditional elements, providing a dynamic and coarsely brushed surface that adds a sense of rugged sportiness. The black sunburst is naturally the most fake watches conservative and versatile of the bunch, followed by a slightly desaturated medium blue, but the real winner of the collection is the verdant rolex replica British racing green dial. While green dials are becoming more common in certain niches of watchmaking, the racing chronograph segment has yet to see many models in the fake rolex uk color.
