Insider Edition

Coming up with a blog name is one of the more difficult things to do when starting a blog in my opinion. I know when I was trying to come up with mine I just kept thinking, this has got to be good because I will be stuck with it. I wanted it to be significant, to mean something. A title that would describe my life. Then I came up with "Pointing Up".

I have wondered what people's first impression of my blog is; when they hear "Pointing Up" what do they think it is all about? Today I wanted to share the true meaning behind the title, maybe you have already figured it out, if so props to you! :)

It is pretty simple really, I am a youth pastor, but before that I am a Jesus follower. I am passionate about sharing Jesus with others. To me, that is the most important thing I could do with my life, point people to Jesus. But it goes beyond that, I want my life to point to Jesus. My hope and prayer is that my life a like an arrow pointing up. The words I say and don't say, the things that I do and don't do, the love that I show, all points to my Savior.

I went to Ethiopia last February (and am excited to be going back next year! eeek!), and the ministry that I worked with was called the Joshua Campaign. The Joshua Campaign is powered by the belief that all men, everywhere, have the right to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ at least one time. They focus on sharing the gospel with unreached people groups who have never even heard the name of Jesus. Can you imagine never hearing the beautiful name of Jesus?? I have adopted this as my belief. Everyone deserves to hear about the salvation that Jesus has bought for us.

I want my life to give glory to God. Everything I do bring honor to Him. Any acknowledgements that come to me, any good that comes from my life, I want to stand back and point up, because it is all about Him and nothing to do with me.
